Baidu is here to save the day because Google is blocked in China. This is a mere inconvenience to most foreigners in China since you can easily tunnel through the Great Firewall with the ubiquitous VPN services. However, as a developer, this isn’t very good news. Especially if you’re a foreign developer (whose Chinese isn’t so good). How do you localize your app so that you can have users in China? Especially if that app requires things like Maps API, Images API etc which many apps require to give their users location information? You can’t build an app based on Google and hope that your users in China all have VPNs. That would only restrict your app to foreign users in China (the most likely users to constantly have VPNs on their phones).
